56 Honda Accord Statistics on Sales, Production, Efficiency and Safety

Honda Accord statistics span long-running U.S. demand, North American manufacturing, model generations, 2024 specifications, EPA fuel-economy estimates and recall populations. The measures below identify their periods, geography and definitions so calendar-year sales are not confused with production totals, model-year specifications or safety investigations.

Honda’s U.S. sales table reports calendar-year sales, not model-year registrations. The series shows a higher-volume period in the middle of the supplied history and lower reported sales in 2022–2024.

Calendar year U.S. Accord sales
2015 344,430 vehicles
2016 336,046 vehicles
2017 300,647 vehicles
2018 273,883 vehicles
2019 243,750 vehicles
2020 181,229 vehicles
2021 174,092 vehicles
2022 114,091 vehicles
2023 101,624 vehicles
2024 79,486 vehicles

Source: Honda 2025 Digital FactBook. Honda reports these as calendar-year sales, so they should not be relabeled as model-year demand or registration data.

Honda also reports 14,373,341 U.S. Accord sales in its historical total through the factbook period. Honda notes that the historical series may combine different sales classifications over time, so the total is a reported historical measure rather than a reconstructed registration series.

The year-by-year figures describe U.S. sales only. They do not measure global Accord demand, and the factbook total should be read with Honda’s stated historical-series scope.

Honda Accord Production Data Across North American Plants

North American production is a separate measure from U.S. sales. Production year and sales year are not interchangeable, and Honda’s production table is cumulative in its historical coverage.

Calendar year North American Accord production
2012 400,143 vehicles
2013 464,628 vehicles
2014 386,239 vehicles
2015 369,365 vehicles
2016 378,364 vehicles
2017 327,362 vehicles
2018 312,814 vehicles
2019 248,635 vehicles
2020 187,415 vehicles
2021 148,683 vehicles
2022 150,901 vehicles
2023 103,403 vehicles
2024 78,867 vehicles

Source: Honda 2025 Digital FactBook. These are North American production figures, not U.S. sales.

Honda’s historical production total contains 12,817,309 North American-produced Accord units. The plant and period coverage follows Honda’s factbook series, so this cumulative figure should not be treated as a newly calculated total from only the annual values shown above.

The production data provides manufacturing scale and timing, while the sales data measures U.S. market transactions. Differences between the two can reflect geography, inventory timing and the distinct definitions used by each table, but the supplied data does not quantify those causes.

Honda Accord Generations, Body Styles and Powertrain History

Honda’s historical table counts model-year introductions rather than units sold or produced. Within the U.S. gasoline sedan history, the table covers 10 generations from model years 1981 through 2022 and lists the 11th-generation introduction in model year 2022.

The gasoline coupe history is a separate body-style series. Honda lists six coupe generation introductions from model years 1993 through 2016.

Historical series Honda-reported measure Period or introduction range
Gasoline sedan 10 generations Model years 1981–2022
Gasoline sedan 11th-generation introduction Model year 2022
Gasoline coupe 6 generation introductions Model years 1993–2016

Source: Honda 2025 Digital FactBook. The generation count records introductions and does not represent production or sales volume.

These definitions matter when comparing the Accord across eras. A generation count describes product history, while the sales and production tables describe vehicles moved in particular calendar years.

2024 Honda Accord Fuel-Economy Statistics by Trim

The 2024 Accord EPA figures are label estimates intended for comparison. Actual mileage varies, and the ratings should not be presented as guaranteed real-world fuel economy.

2024 U.S. trim City mpg Highway mpg Combined mpg
LX 29 37 32
EX 29 37 32
Sport Hybrid 46 41 44
EX-L Hybrid 51 44 48
Sport-L Hybrid 46 41 44
Touring Hybrid 46 41 44

Honda’s EPA table lists 14.8-gallon fuel tanks for the 2024 gasoline Accord trims covered there and 12.8-gallon fuel tanks for the hybrid trims. Tank capacity is a specification, not an observed driving-range result, so it should not be converted into an unsupported range claim.

The trim comparison shows the supplied rating differences without implying that every driver will achieve the label values. The gasoline and hybrid groups also use different listed tank capacities.

2024 Honda Accord Performance, Dimensions and Equipment Measurements

Honda’s 2024 specifications distinguish gasoline-engine output from hybrid-engine output. Engine horsepower and torque are specification measures; hybrid engine output is not the same as total hybrid-system horsepower or torque.

2024 measure Gasoline Accord Accord Hybrid
Engine horsepower 192 hp at 6,000 rpm 146 hp at 6,100 rpm
Engine torque 192 lb-ft from 1,700–5,000 rpm 134 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm

Source: 2024 Honda Accord Specifications & Features. The figures are SAE net specifications and not fleet-average performance outcomes.

The same 2024 specification release gives several equipment measurements:

  • The digital instrument cluster measures 10.2 inches.
  • Upper trims use a 12.3-inch color touchscreen, with availability varying by trim.
  • The Touring trim has a 6-inch head-up display.
  • The base audio system is rated at 160 watts with four speakers.
  • The second audio tier is rated at 180 watts with eight speakers.
  • The Touring Bose system uses 12 speakers.
  • Selected upper trims provide two rear USB-C charging ports.

These are product specifications rather than independent tests of sound quality, screen usability, charging speed or driving performance. Feature availability is trim-specific where Honda identifies it as such.

Honda Accord Recall Populations and Reported Safety Outcomes

Recall statistics must be read within each NHTSA document’s stated population. Some figures include other Honda models, and a potentially involved vehicle is not the same as a confirmed failure.

NHTSA recall 24V-859 identified 121 potentially involved vehicles across its listed population and gave an estimated defect rate of 100%. The recall included 2023–2024 gas Accord production from July 21 through December 20, 2023, and 2023–2024 Accord Hybrid production from April 4 through December 14, 2023.

Honda reported five warranty claims for the seat-frame issue through November 7, 2024, alongside zero reported injuries and zero reported deaths at that cutoff. Warranty claims are not equivalent to crashes or injuries, and the zero counts describe reports available to Honda at the stated date.

NHTSA’s RQ24006 document estimated 389,253 vehicles in the 23V-782 seat-belt recall query population for 2023–2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid and HR-V vehicles. Because HR-V vehicles are included, this is not an Accord-only population.

Field reports 0
Crashes or fires 0
Injury incidents 0
Fatalities 0
