Honda recall statistics span global automobile, motorcycle and power-product campaigns, as well as U.S. investigations and remedy reports. The measures below distinguish campaign populations from confirmed failures, global internal reporting from U.S. authority data, and warranty provisions from recall-only costs.

Global Honda Recall Statistics in FY2024
Honda’s ESG Data Book reports recall activity for its global automobile, motorcycle and power-products segments during FY2024, defined as April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024. These are Honda internal figures and may differ from announcements by public authorities.
| Honda segment | Global campaigns | Affected units | Measurement period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automobiles | 29 | 9,814,483 | FY2024 |
| Motorcycles | 14 | 253,479 | FY2024 |
| Power products | 5 | 390,737 | FY2024 |
| Total across segments | 48 | 10,458,699 | FY2024 |
Source: Honda ESG Data Book 2024. The affected-unit total is a sum of campaign populations, not a count of unique vehicles or products; campaigns may overlap.
Automobiles represented 60.4% of the 48 reported campaigns and 93.8% of affected units. Those shares describe Honda’s reported campaign mix, not defect rates, failure rates, ownership shares or safety risk.
Honda Recall Data by Product Segment
The segment averages show how campaign size differed across Honda’s reported product groups. They are simple affected-unit-per-campaign quotients, not exposure or reliability measures.
- The automobile segment averaged 338,430 affected units per campaign in FY2024, based on 9,814,483 units across 29 campaigns.
- The motorcycle segment averaged 18,106 affected units per campaign in FY2024, based on 253,479 units across 14 campaigns.
- The power-products segment averaged 78,147 affected units per campaign in FY2024, based on 390,737 units across five campaigns.
Motorcycles represented 29.2% of Honda’s FY2024 campaign count, while power products represented 10.4%. Because the three segment totals come from Honda’s internal global reporting, they should not be directly compared with U.S.-only NHTSA campaign populations.
The unit figures also do not establish how many owners were contacted, how many products experienced the defect, or how quickly remedies were completed. Honda notes that its totals may differ from authority announcements.
Major U.S. Honda Safety Recall Campaigns
U.S. recall reports provide more detailed campaign-level scope, model coverage and defect descriptions. A campaign population is the number potentially affected, not the number of confirmed failures.
Campaign 23V-751, reported November 13, 2023, affected 248,999 Acura and Honda vehicles. It covered Acura MDX model years 2016–2020, Acura TLX model years 2015–2020, Honda Odyssey model years 2018–2019, Honda Pilot model years 2016 and 2018–2019, and Honda Ridgeline model years 2017 and 2019.
The defect involved connecting-rod-bearing wear from a manufacturing error, with possible seizure. Honda’s stated remedy was inspection and repair or engine replacement at no charge.

A separate American Honda fuel-pump recall announced March 30, 2021, covered 628,124 Acura and Honda vehicles in the United States. At launch, Honda reported no crashes or injuries for that campaign and offered free repair; the reported outcome was time-bounded through March 30, 2021.

Campaign 24V-859, submitted November 14, 2024, involved 121 potentially affected Honda and Acura vehicles and an estimated defect percentage of 100%. That percentage means Honda estimated the affected condition across the campaign population; it is not a measured failure rate.
The campaign listed eight vehicle lines: Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, HR-V, Acura Integra, Integra Type S and Pilot. Production dates across the listed models ranged from March 1, 2023, to January 4, 2024.

Honda Recall Remedy Progress and Unrepaired Vehicles
NHTSA’s quarterly reports for campaign 24V-744 show progress against a fixed U.S. population of 1,693,199 vehicles. The reports cover 2024-4 through 2026-1, with the latest report submitted April 14, 2026.
| Report quarter | Vehicles remedied | Completion of 1,693,199 population |
|---|---|---|
| 2024-4 | 321,687 | 19.0% |
| 2025-1 | 865,582 | — |
| 2025-2 | 1,181,911 | — |
| 2025-3 | 1,323,884 | — |
| 2025-4 | 1,393,637 | — |
| 2026-1 | 1,460,342 | 86.2% |

The 2026-1 report also listed 3,625 unreachable vehicles and 22,360 removed vehicles. “Unreachable” and “removed” are reporting categories and should not automatically be interpreted as proof that a vehicle remains unrepaired.
For broader context, NHTSA’s 2020–2024 recall report says 3,514 recalls, or 79%, had remedies available within two to six months, while 711 recalls, or 16%, had remedies available in less than two months. Those figures cover U.S. vehicle and equipment recalls, exclude tires and child seats as noted by NHTSA, and are not Honda-only measures.

Honda Recall Outcomes: Claims, Crashes, Injuries and Deaths
Outcome statistics require careful time and definition boundaries. A listed risk is not an observed event, and a manufacturer’s zero count at a decision date is not a lifetime outcome measure.
For campaign 24V-859, Honda identified two incidents involving a missing seat-frame bolt by August 28, 2024. The report says the bolt may have fallen off during use, but this incident count is not a crash or injury count.
Honda reported five warranty claims for the seat-frame issue through November 5, 2024. It reported zero injuries and zero deaths related to the issue through November 7, 2024.

For campaign 23V-751, NHTSA described possible engine stall while driving and listed fire, crash or injury as risks from a damaged engine. Those statements define potential consequences of the defect mechanism, not the incidence of crashes, injuries or deaths.
The 2021 fuel-pump recall provides a different kind of outcome observation: American Honda reported no crashes or injuries at launch for its 628,124-vehicle U.S. campaign. Because the statement was made at launch, it should not be generalized to all later outcomes.
Honda Recall Costs, Warranty Provisions and Measurement Limits
Honda’s financial disclosures do not provide a recall-only cost total in the supplied figures. Instead, they report product-warranty provisions that include general warranties and specific programs, including recalls.

NHTSA’s 2024 annual report recorded 4,174 Honda vehicles remedied by over-the-air updates for 2024 recall-year campaigns. That is one remedy channel only and does not represent all Honda recalls, all repair methods or total remedy completion.
